Motorcycle accidents up since start of spring

Motorcycle accidents are dangerous and can lead to lifelong injuries or death. This summer, we have seen many motorcycle accidents take place throughout western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. While many car and truck drivers say their accidents with motorcycles were unavoidable, the truth of the matter is that watching out for and sharing the road with bikers is a responsibility that comes with the privilege of owning a driver’s license.

A Beaver County man was injured last week and police officials tell reporters that they are currently looking for the car that caused a motorcycle accident along Route 18 on Sunday evening. Police say the accident happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Monroe Street and Delaware Avenue, near the Gulf Station and Domino’s Pizza.

Witnesses on the scene told PA State Police that a vehicle was headed southbound on Monroe Street when it made a left turn onto Delaware Avenue and cut in front of the biker’s path. The biker was heading north on Delaware Avenue at the time of the accident. The impact caused the biker to be thrown from the motorcycle. Police say the biker was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police say that the man suffered serious injuries, but do believe that he will survive; however, they are not yet sure about the extent of his injuries. Upon arrival, emergency crews took the man to a local hospital. Police have been questioning witnesses and are scouring through video to find some clue as to who the driver is and which way he or she headed after the accident.
