Pennsylvania man injured after falling into manhole while working

Dangerous conditions can be present anywhere, including in a residential, commercial or work environment. Such may have been the case when a worker experienced a slip-and-fall accident recently on the job here in Pennsylvania, falling into a 14-foot manhole.

The man was reportedly working on an underground sewer line when the accident happened. He injured his foot in the process of his fall. He was rescued after approximately 15 minutes and he underwent treatment for minor injuries.

Of course, workers are not the only ones at risk of suffering injuries in slip-and-fall accidents. Slip-and-fall accidents often occur when the negligence of a business owner, landowner or landlord is involved. Those who incur serious injuries on the property of another may be able to file a lawsuit based on premises liability, in order to recoup compensation for medical expenses and other damages.

Property owners and managers are required by law to keep their premises reasonably safe. Hazardous conditions on streets, sidewalks, or commercial or residential properties can cause a slip-and-fall accident that results in severe injuries.

It is of course important to proceed with caution wherever you go. However, if you are injured in an accident at a location where there is fault by another party, you may be able to seek redress in the form of money damages. This can be important in order to avoid incurring economic losses due to the injury.

If you or someone you know has had a slip-and-fall accident on public or private property, you can explore your legal options and possibly seek compensation. Source: CSN Philly, “Worker slips, falls into manhole,” May 12, 2014
