Taj Mahal Resort wasn’t worth the price says injured tourist

Have you ever taken that long trip across the state of Pennsylvania, into New Jersey and all the way to the coast to experience the casinos of Atlantic City? Many Pittsburgh residents have and will, but according to a tourist from Texas, there is one resort that they might want to avoid.

Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort was the focus of a recent lawsuit filed by the tourist after he was injured in a fall on the premises of the resort.

The accident occurred on Oct. 12, 2012 when the man tripped and fell while walking down a handicapped ramp located on the property owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts. While many premises liability lawsuits are based on a slip-and-fall incident, it wasn’t the fall itself that this man said was the problem.

In the complaint filed with the court, the man said that when he fell, he reached out for the supportive railing alongside the ramp. Unbeknownst to him, there was a piercingly sharp corner at the exact point that his hand was reaching for. When his forearm came into contact with the railing, the sharp corner cut through the skin.

The laceration to his arm not only required 20 stitches, but intensive physical therapy as well. Why? The sharp corner did not just cut through the skin, but it also sliced through muscles and tendons in the arm. While he has not undergone surgery at this point to repair the damage, the complaint noted that it will likely be required in the future.

It is hidden hazards such as this one that can make a property truly dangerous for those invited onto it by the owners and operators. What may seem like a small hazard can cause injuries that leave victims with large medical bills, future complications and disfiguring scars.
