Greensburg, PA
Greensburg is a city in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The city serves as the county seat and is also part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area. (Greensburg is located 30 miles away from Pittsburgh.) Greensburg has eight wards, many of which used to be PA boroughs. According to the most recent census, Greensburg has a total population of just under 15,000 residents and a geographic area of 4.1 square miles.
Greensburg was formally incorporated in 1789 and named after Nathanael Greene, an important general during the American Revolutionary War. These days, Greensburg is a business center in Western Pennsylvania: many people commute to the city every day to work at local companies and to visit the restaurants and shopping centers in the Greensburg downtown district. (The Westmoreland Mall is the largest shopping complex in Westmoreland County.) Traffic can become congested on roads near Greensburg during rush hour, including US Route 30, the Pennsylvania Turnpike 66 (Pennsylvania Route 66), and US Route 119.
